I did a thread two weeks back about the new property I'm hunting this year and the doe I took on it during Ohio's opening weekend.

For any who missed and want to see it, here's the thread:

 http://tradgang.com/noncgi/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=132059;p=1#000000

I was able to get out again this past Friday, the evening before Ohio's new antlerless only weekend (muzzleloaders allowed).

This property has been amazing so far, and I haven't had a single sit where I haven't at least seen deer. This evening was no different and it wasn't long before I had a nice fat doe approach my tree along a mowed trail from behind and to my left.

The trouble was, I didn't see or hear her until she was 5 yards from the base of the tree. I was out of cover at this point and not able to position for a draw without spooking her.

Luckily, she didn't wind me and eventually moved up the hill to my left and gave me a 1/4 away shot at 15 yards.

The shot was true and before long I had my hands on doe #2 for the season. I was running out of light by the time I got her drug out to an open spot for a pic, so all I have is this poor cell phone one:

I've been fortunate enough to have an amazing couple of weeks so far and put a lot of meat in the freezer. And with most of the season still ahead of me, I can't wait to get back out there.

Thanks for reading, and good hunting everyone!

Nice shot! Congrats on a fine doe.

Excellent for you on the success.  Are you in a 3 or 4 deer county? Keep it up.
BTW, reading the ODNR website only a 3rd of deer hunters actually bag a deer a season.  Then only 19.6% of those who are successful kill a second deer in Ohio.  More than that the numbers really plummet.  And you've done this with a stick bow.
Wonderful achievement.

Thanks everyone!

Christopher, Thank you! I'm in a four deer county. Those are some interesting stats for sure. I've really been fortunate this year! It usually doesn't happen this fast lol.
