Hey guys!

I need some info on kids bows. My wife and I are in the process of taking custody of her brothers kids and hope to have them with us soon. It is an ugly situation and the parents are both in jail and not getting out anytime soon. The kids are Dacion who is five and Destiny who is four. I have looked at a few bow from different manufacturers but it seems they are either inexpensive and cheaply made or they are nice and carry a price tag to match. We don't have a ton of money but any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks - Tristan

Go to Black Widow Bows webpage, click on the Accessories tab, scroll to youth bows, open the link for matrix Jr, order.  Repeat as necessary.

These bows cost $89 or $99 depending on which one you choose.  They are indestructable.  My kids shot them for years and years and so did their friends.  Now my nieces and nephews and random other youngsters are shooting them.

They are take-down bows and can go anywhere.  My kids killed armadillos, possums, fish, frogs, and assorted other small game with them before moving up to other stuff.

One of the best purchases I have ever madi in my life.

I have spoken with Mike at Maddog and  have a bow on order with him for my wife. I haven't ruled out getting one from him yet, I'm just not sure. I also need suggestions for kids arrows as well. Greg I will take a look at those, thanks!

I say go w/ maddog. Make arrows out of 1/4" dowels.

Dryad has some really nice kid bows.  My son had the pheonix lite...  http://www.dryadbows.com/Fiberglass%20Collection/phoenix.htm

That seems to be the general consensus. Thanks Drifter!

Buy your arrows from Big Jim.  16.99 for six, 1/4" wood.  My girls crest them by hand with fingernail polish.  They seem pretty tough too, and we put them through quite a lot.

VictoryHunter

Thanks BDann! I didn't know Big Jim had kids arrows. I like buying from him, they do goo business.

I'm getting to be pretty knowledgeable in the kids archery department after outfitting my kids and half the neighborhood with gear.  And I still haven't been arrowed yet!  Mike's pup longbows are fantastic for the kids, and those youth bows at Black Widow look good too.

Grey Rhino bows are pretty durable. I got one for my son and he shoots it pretty good.

Ordered a Maddog for my 5 year old. They look great on the web and affordable. Mike was easy to work with. I'll let you know how the bow is when we receive it. Sorry to hear about the situation.

:biglaugh:    Thanks again BDan! Wannabe I will take a look, thanks! Bassbow I actually have a good friend who bought one for his son and it look every bit as nice as one of his adult models. I would like to buy them the nice one from Mike and may still but we aren't in any real hurry. I am just wanting some others opinions from experience before I buy, I am picky to a fault when it comes to spending money.

No need to be sorry! We are very thankful that things have turned out for the best the kids are safe and sound! Thanks!

St Joe River makes a wonderful youth bow.
Just one more step please!

I just ordered a bow for my daughter from Harry Mitchell in SD.  He advertises in the classifieds in the Traditional Bowhunter magazine.

I could not find a lot of info about him online but the little I found was good.  In speaking twice with him, he seems like a good guy.

His kid's bows are just over $100 including shipping.  I can provide his phone # and let you know how the bow looks when it arrives next week, if you are interested.

St Joe River has a trade in program too.
Ask me about CTO.

There is also the Samick Little Fox 48" and 54" bow for $100. You can get different weight limbs in the 54", not sure on the 48"

Not sure on your budget but Kevin from Herway Bows makes an awesome kids bow. I researched kids bows for months before I decided him.
