Preparing for the next couple of weeks, I'm wondering if you all can give us some input into what In YOUR mind makes a good kill photo, or hero photo, however you want to say it.  I'm torn.  My favorite to this point is actually late-season rifle kill in deep snow, so it won't be included here.  However, I'd like to see yours?  Lets make a pile of them, regardless of the animal.  Your favorite shot and why.  Thanks!

Both pictures are of same deer, some reason I like the one without me in it more:) although I like both pictures better than my one other big game archery kill picture, a cow elk I took with a compound. I don't really think it has as much to do with the type of bow I killed the animal with as much as it has to do with how many more seasons it to took me to get a deer than it did to get an elk. I missed some real chip shots with my compound and managed to get a late season whitetail on a heavily hunted SWA with a recurve. Who'd of thunk!

Various bows, but if you see me shooting, it's probably a Toelke in my hand!

I only have one... Last year was actually the first time I took a pic after I took an animal I think. I normally only take a camera when scouting and cut any weight while hunting. Pic quality sucks a d not a perfect pose, but something like this...

I solo hunt most the time so I am partial to pics with the animal and gear with no person in the pic....

Nice photo Levi.  I like those also.  But when I see a photo with a guy/gal who is genuinely happy with his or her trophy that can be great also.

Anymore I prefer to take pics of mine with gear only or a nice scenic backdrop.  It is more about memories and respect.

I always like to take one "as is" when I recover them.  Typically they do not turn out magazine quality, but I really enjoy them.

Very personal for me.

A mini tripod or gorilla pod comes in handy or you can do it on the cheap and just use a bolt that is threaded for your camera.

I always try to have the pic as close as I can to fill the screen, it should be centered and if at all possible the sun at the background. I will take the time to set up the shot, removing veg that is in the way, cleaning up the animal a little etc.

Get a digicamera and just tinker and shoot, some of my favorite pics were taken off the cuff.

I am waiting for someone to post a pick with the pack string of horses with a couple big 6point bulls and a skyline pack out pic... those are allways good to look at!

Nice pics so far everyone. Love that sheep pic!

Probably one of the better ones I have.  It was taken by my then 11 year old son.

That's not me with the Dall-I'm pretty sure it's Denny sturgis- I just kept it because it was a template for what's right in a hero shot
