I found a deal on a widow!

I found what I think to be a pretty good deal on a BW PTF in autumn oak. The specs are 58" amo, 66@28. Will the 58" bow fit me well and be a smooth draw for my 28" DL? The weight won't be a problem. I figured I could get some good input since I see a lot of BW shooters on here and I've never shot one, let alone handled one. Thanks

Blackhawk

Since weight is not a problem, the 58" will be OK.  BW factory states that 29" is max recommended draw for that length bow.

I once had a 58" TF and it pulled fine for me out to 29" which I traded for a PSA Widow of the same length.  Great bows!

BTW, what's the great deal you got?

You will be fine with 28" draw on a 58" Ptf  Psa pa.  Go for it

You should be good. I picked mine up this year on a classified ad... Now there's no putting it down! I love my widow.

It's a BW hard case, BW soft case, and he says barely shot bow, which was made in 1999, for $400. That seems pretty good, right?

Well, I haven't gone through with it yet. I'm having a hard time deciding on my next bow. Sale a few bows and buy a nice used custom (like the PTF), or a brand new production bow (superK or Martin Hunter). Or sale most of my bows and going all out and buying a new custom, like a new PTF to my specs. Oh so many choices.....

I shoot 58" Widows and I have a 29" draw.  I had a PTF and it was a shooter.  The only reason that I got rid of it was because it was too light of a draw wgt for my liking.  In my opinion, the PTF is one of best shooters in the Widow line.

sounds like a steal, hope to see pics soon!

If it was made in 99 it's a TF.The PTF came about five years later.

I think the "P" = "precision".  The difference is that the PTF would be made on precision CNC machinery, and the TF more by hand.  Same bow, but the exactness in the PTF is tighter, and 2 PTF bows are precisely identical from one to the other.
Life is a whole lot easier when you just plow around the stump.

I thought it had something to do with the CNC machining too, but I wasn't 100% sure.

A "P" stands for precision after they started with the CNCs to make the bows.

Those TFs are fine bows.

I received this from Black Widow several years ago.

"Back in 1982 Ken Beck bought Black Widow Bows.  It was the 25th anniversary of the company and he designed his first Black Widow, the MA.  MA stood for Maple Anniversary because it was made of Maple and it was the 25th Anniversary.

Things kind of grew from there.  His next takedown model was a shorter version of the MA and he called it the SA (Short Anniversary).

In 2003 we started building our bows with our CNC machines and we added the P in front of MA and SA. P standing for Precision.

In 2004 we began producing the older TF (Target & Field) one piece bows in the milling machine creating the PTF.

In 2007 we had our 50th Anniversary so another anniversary bow was born, the PA (Precision Anniversary).  So now we have the PMA and PSA models along with the PSR (Precision Short Recurve) and PL (Precision Longbow), PA and PTF models.

Last year we came out with another new model, the PCH (Precision Compact Hunter) which has even a shorter riser."

For $400 I'm sure it's a great deal on an awesome bow!
