Just wandering what most of you have come up with as you favorite rest material?  I've used the rug rests and velcro -- but just wanted to hear some opinions on all the various options and what's worked best for you.

Pictures would be great too.

I loved sealskin when it was available - alas, no longer.

I use Velcro, calf hair and furniture foot padding mostly. And I can't leave out the occasional broken toothpick to help add a little thickness when needed.

hmmm...furniture food padding.  Never thought of that.

Sealskin for me.
Just got a nice piece from Stickshooter (Frank Scukanec). He made me some beautiful antler limb bolts and I ordered some sealskin as well. He may have more from an old sealskin coat he has.

After using mostly velcro, I've settled on thin leather I got for $2 from 3 Rivers that I skive the edges.  I don't like my rests wearing out and it's quiet.  After a lot of use it gets real smooth.

beaver hair for both sides works well for me.

Butchie

Seal skin for rest (still have some left) and calf hair strike.  Likely go to beaver hair when seal skin supply is gone.

Velcro. Yes it wears out the fastest and looks cheap, but it also is cheap and easily replaced. I have recently switched to precut Velcro tabs sold for posters and such.

I am also a fan of seal skin. Very durable and just plain looks good on the bow. That being said I'm definitely not above using good ole velcro.

Industrial Velcro, it wears like iron and for $10 have a enough to last a lifetime on a couple bows. I have beaver tail on my Caribow and I like that as well, but when it is time to replace it, I will go with the industrial velcro. It can be had at Wal-Mart and Lowes, just make sure the package is marked industrial. Shawn
