Hi all, I wanted to see which products function best for waterproofing my leather hunting boots. I am going to hunt on a wet environment (Quebec Northern territories in Sept)

Any products out there that you guys have tested and perform well?

Thanks for the input

I like Sno Seal and use it on all my leather items. Having said that, my boots are GoreTex lined and waterproof anyway.

I have used the Redwing boot oil for years, it is easy to apply and get in around the stitching.  I worked in wet conditions and this made my boots last a long time, and completely waterproof

I love Montana Pitch Blend and Obenauf's. They both work great on my leather hunting boots.

sno seal, and put them on a boot dryer so it absorbs. repeat a couple times if you can, so the leather is saturated.

Thanks all for the alternatives...now I just need to decide on one! Lol

I've used both Montana Pitch Blend (most recently) and Sno Seal.  They both will work, to some extent, and each has it's advocates.

I like the stuff Scott Teaschner sells - think it is called Dri-Boot.  Got to heat it up some and work it in, but it works.

I've used a couple of things over the years, and have found Mink Oil to be my favourite.  Snow Seal is great too, but with the mink oil I find if you warm up your boots or anything leather, it really sinks in. I usually have to apply it 2 to 3 times before it stops being absorbed readily.

snow seal and mink oil I use both. I put a layer of the snow prof on and rub in. I let them dry over a few days and then put a 2nd coat of the mink oil in as well. I have some boots that still look good after a doz years.

Be carefull not to destroy the breathability of the boot in the atempt to waterproof.

Sno seal for me and as mentioned above, I heat it up after applying to help it absorb in.
