Hey guys
I shoot a 46 pound at 26.5inch draw what arrow weight do you guys think I would need to shoot pigs and deer.

m midd

10 grains per pound is what i like. If it was me i would try to have a finished weight of 460 grains.

450 to 550 gr should be a good range to be in for That poundage bow it also depends on what broadhead you are using .with a narrow two blade go lighter. larger head or multi blade go with more weight

the problem won't be deer, it might be hogs.

let's assume your arrow flies very well during hunting venue conditions (not just shooting under ideal archery range conditions), and the cut-on-contact broadhead is truly razor sharp.  this means good arrow flight and a sharp point.

now let's add to that your ability to consistently hit a given mark out to no more than 20 yards (under very favorable conditions), but mostly you'll be 15 yards and under whence you loose the arrow.

if yer holding 46#, a 450+ grain arrow that properly hits the lung area of a whitetail deer should pass right through.  it's a goodly size target and you should be able to hit it at 15 yards or under.  however, there may be another genus of deer in your locale that's tougher than a whitetail.

the issue with hogs is that the target area is much smaller and surrounded by both a tough shield and big bones (typically, unless it's a smaller "football" piggy).  this will place more skill on your consistent accuracy and might also mean going with a heavier arrow to aid in penetration.

some things to ponder.
