62" Chad Holm [Holm-Made] River Runner, Dual shelf, 45# @ 29" Best performing recurve I have ever shot.....and I have had a bunch! Osage and Cocobolo, pretty easy on the eyes also!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

My 1967 Bear Grizzly.....

I won it in the St.Jude's raffle at the JLMBH in Feb of 2007. It was 40 years old... I hunted with it the last day of the Bunny Hunt, & missed a bunch of bunnys with it!!! I wrote a thread about it on here, "Hunting with a Piece of History"... I killed a Spikehorn with it that November... It has been my "Hunting Bow" & almost constant companian ever since.

I have had a few "custom" bows..... But I'll never buy another one. None of them have the "mystery" that the old Bears do.

Just one old woodchucker's thoughts.....
I only shoot WOOD arrows... My kid makes them, fast as I can break them!

There is a fine line between Hunting, & Sitting there looking Stupid...

May The Great Spirit Guide Your Arrows..... Happy Hunting!!!

A 58", 50# @ 28" Plainsman I bought used in 1981. Try as I might, I have yet to find another curve I can shoot better.  :archer2:

Right now, it's my Morrison ILF metal riser and some foam core limbs I picked up.  Next week or month it could be my trust BW PTFX.

I'm firmly in the Whippenstick camp. My Hellfire (one piece) is just a shooter. It's got all the qualities I want in a great bow.

If I wanted a takedown or bow with a little more mass weight I'd get a Phoenix. Those bows are impressive!

Only recurve Ive ever had that made me lay my long bows down is my Tall Tines!!

Bear A takedown with Rosé Oak limbs. No maybe those RER limbs? No I think probably the Border Hex 6 limbs. I don't know those Windaur  limbs are darn nice to. Well not sure now have to go shoot them all again..Choices!!!

Ditto what Str8Shooter has to say about his Whippensticks. I have had bows by a dozen or more of the big name makers and am surprised at how much superior my Whippenstick bows are. I have a one piece and a three piece Phoneix. I still have a dozen custom bows that I hardly shoot. After the Whippesticks they all feel lacking in something. Some are noisy by comparison, some harsh on the release and although speed is down on my list of priorities my Phoneix bow is the fastest I own and I still own a Fazio Balistic that is 5 pounds heavier than the Whippenstick. I have another Phoneix on order...............just in case.

Regards to all,
Dan
