Everything else in life is secondary when Elk season arrives.... The only way my wife gets any attention is using elk urine behind her ears....

I'm getting ready for elk here in MT like usual.  Good luck to all you folks.  Calling elk is number one and big time fun!

First time this year to south central CO. Bringing swap bow or one of my own, and training wheels, just in case. The appropriate ethical decision, I'll get those wheels off sometime.

No go for me again this year, all you lucky dogs make sure to share the pics and stories!

Like Kirk and Ron  when elk season comes I am not a bowyer any longer. Elk Hunter is the name and elk is my game!!!!  I can smell the fir, bask in the warmth of the sun and smell the smoke of a fire with a hot pot of coffee on it. More that all that I can anticipate that moment when it all comes together and see the flash of the arrow and hear the thump of a well placed shot./ A whirl and a death run.

Man I can almost taste the steak!!!!!  :archer:

God bless you all, Steve

Looking forward to my first CO elk hunt. Ten days in early Sept. Hunting with an old friend. Will be the first time we have camped and hunted together since we were both teenagers, I'm now 58. Pat, I'll see you the first of Sept.

What Elksong said.  Leaving Fri for a llama weekend and some recon. on a potential new area.   The grass is always greener....

Final week of the Colorado season for me. The elk hunt is just a bonus as I get to share a week with my son who lives out there. Priceless!

Whip

Just booked a plane ticket this morning to spend the last week of archery season in southwest CO.  Flying out with one friend, and will met up with another who is driving out with our gear a week earlier.  A couple of other good friends will round out a great camp!
Now I am just watching the weather forecast daily and praying that they get some much needed rain to fill up the water tanks on the ranch.

If I was not already going to Wyoming at that time for elk, I would be all over this.  Good luck finding a partner.

I am always seeing guys post that they want to hunt elk "someday".  Overspined has an offer that you shouldn't pass up!

We arrived here in camp in SW Colorado a few days after Comptons. Looking forward to the seasons as I have elk, deer, and bear tags. Took a drive today and spotted a beautiful light cinnamon bear. Don't see many that color here. Hope to see him again around the first week in Sept.
