If I couldn't hunt Elk every year......well I'd just die.
What is man without the beasts? If all the beasts were gone, men would die from great loneliness of spirit, for whatever happens to the beasts also happens to man. All things are connected. Whatever befalls the earth befalls the children of the earth

No elk for us this year.  Don't feel sorry though. We're headed back to AK for moose.

I am going for a job interview tomorrow and when I get the job I will be able to hunt elk pretty much in my back yard...I am going to focus on antlerless animals because there is a two month bow only season for them there...if a legal bull comes by I will just watch him and wave goodbye...not...I will shoot him right through both lungs...if he is a big tough old bruiser I will grind him up for sausage and burger and get my name in the record book...I am going to hunt with an interesting combo...a Dryad longbow at between 65 and 70 pounds shooting 2317 Grand Slams with 160 grain Thunderheads...I also use VPA broadheads but I like the way the Thunderheads shoot and the way they mate with the insert on the arrows...I really like the potential of being able to hunt every day for two months...of course that will probably mean I will shoot one on my first day out and have to sit out the rest of the season

I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

I hope to get a "rematch" with the big ol' growler here in Oregon.  If he didn't make it though the rifle season, predators, or the winter then maybe his sons will be there!

Should be some good stories with this many going. I plan to carry both a still camera and a video camera and document my hunt to the extent possible.

Hope others do the same and we have some great elk stories posted on here to keep us warm this winter!!
