The areas around there can be feast or famine for hunting. Lots of public land...but strong legs were required to access a lot of it...or a horse, preferably not one named Mr. Ed. (talks too much).

Fishing used to be great and access was pretty open in the 80's.  Haven't been since the early 90's... still was good but bit more crowded with NR license plates at all my old pull outs!

Enjoy the adventure!

You know, us MSU Bobcat's don't take to kindly Griz   :nono:      :nono:
Now if you were a Bobcat fan, we might have you  and the misses over sometime for Bar-B-Q and discuss some of the "Generalities" (is that a word?  Us Bobcats aint none to smart you know) of the local hills and water.

In all seriousness, we Really Do Not   Like Griiz, but seeing as how you shoot a nice bow, PM me when you get settled in and we can discuss the local areas....as long as you don't let any of my friends know you like Griz (ever notice Griz is a four letter word.....just sayin......).
The broadhead used, regardless of how sharp, is nowhere as important as being able to place it in the correct spot.

Mike, it shouldn't be 10 years before we meet, let's talk at the PBS Banquet in Cincinnati next March.

Don't let Walt talk you out of being a griz fan.  I lived in Bozeman for a couple years and might someday move back.  Nice place

Congratulations!  That is really exciting.  I dreamed of doing that when I was young and never followed through.  Now our roots are firmly planted now and moving west has long been taken off the table.  I have no regrets, but have always wondered "what if?"  You won't have to wonder!

ABSOLUTELY! Always buy a lifetime combo license in every state you live. This is doubly important for any military members.

Having only hunted whitetails, turkeys & small game here in Iowa, I am most excited to chase after wide racked muleys! For some reason though, every hunter/huntress I have spoken with has said that the first time I hear an elk bugle his head off from some faraway ridge-I will @ that exact moment be inflicted with an incurable disease known as elk fever?

Jacob,

Listen to Walt!

I was out there so long last December I became an official MSU Bobcat fan.  I was able to take in two playoff games and not only the team and the stadium, but mostly the patriotic and dedicated fans impressed me greatly.  The whole stadium SINGS the National Anthem!

I had pretty good seats.

Also some of the best tailgating scenery around!

And Walt, my plan is not to have a marathon this year so I can make sure to meet up with you     :knothead:
