Please tell me I'm not alone!  I have a problem, I'm addicted to this traditional archery business!  Since finding out I drew a cow elk tag here in Kentucky I've shot every day, usually several times a day.  My shoulder is tired and I keep telling myself I'm going to take a day off, I need to take a day off and next thing you know I'm shooting "just a couple" in the basement.  I couldn't mow today due to rain so I'm in my little workshop capping arrows and splitting turkey feathers.  I've got a bow off at the Toelke's for a weight reduction and nearly every day I'm stalking the mailman waiting for it to come back.  Yesterday I had the kids so threw the boy in the kid carrying backpack so I could rove a little in the yard while my daughter napped.  Am I the only one this bad?

They say the first step is admitting you have a problem.  I HAVE A PROBLEM!  Lol

No problem you are lucky you drew a tag.Enjoy and hope you get one.Kip

No your not alone by any means. You will need to start attending AA {Archeryaholics Anonomous} with the rest of us however! Hunting is the only cure- enjoy.

I think most of us are in the same boat.  I have a couple hunts planned also and try to shoot regularly but I also take a day off once or twice a week.

Listen to your body and take a day off now and then.  You don't want to get close to you hunt and have your shoulder go out.  Been there.

You're not alone.  I usually shoot a bit too much and my accuracy wanes most likely from fatigue, then I start second guessing myself, then I start trying new things, then I shoot worse.  If I just take a couple of days off and come back fresh, I tend to shoot better than I thought I could.  Life's about balance!  Good luck on the elk hunt.

Obsession is a strength....and a weakness?? No way! lol.

Knawbone - I agree with you on the cure and  an "intervention" maybe needed, stat! It's time for swine.    :help:

Never question a man's choice in bows or the quality of an animal he kills.  He is the only one who has to be satisfied with either of those choices.

You're deffinately not alone.  I bring my bow with me to the office most day's so I can sneak away at lunch and shoot at the public archery range down town. Since it's too hot in the summer to leave it in my truck my Safari Tuff takedown case comes into the office with me. At first my co-workers couldn't figure out what that funny looking case was I was bringing in with my briefcase.   "[dntthnk]"

In drawing the elusive Kentucky elk tag, I would be disappointed if you were anything other than "eat slap up with it"  :biglaugh:

I shoot almost every day and didn't draw a tag anywhere. Always making arrows, fixing equipment and all the other stuff that goes with all the fun of this pastime! You don't need help ....yet!

I just worked 13 hours then drove  out to the hunt club only to be turned back by a flood. The black flys and Mosquitos are so thick you can barley see.

You are not alone my friend
