Ok Ive heard great things about finding Chert (also knows as Mozarkite, Jasper, Agate)in Missouri and since Ill be spending a week in Kansas City in early May this year I thaught I might try to pick up some good specimens for knapping.  Problem is I dont know the area at all and the searches Ive done so far online have turned up less than specific information as to the location of good material for knapping. Soooo.... knowing the wealth of knowledge I usually find here I was hoping to get a bit better starting point than I have so far.

If anyone happens to know a good area for hunting up some good raw material for knapping or might be willing to help a new person get started I would sure appreciate any help I can get.

Ask that question on Paleo Planet or Primitive Archer under the flintknapping section. Good folks over there who may help you out.
