Who shoots through mesh windows in groundblinds

I just started hunting with a bow out of my double bull last year for turkeys with great luck but I have always shot with the windows pulled down and I wear black, just wondering how many of you shoot through the mesh I am contemplating it. I am taking youth this year and I think it would be a lot easier to not get busted moving around getting ready for the shot.

No effect on the arrow at all.  I shoot woodsman heads.

When shooting through the mesh screen be sure that it is a straight on shot, if you shoot the mesh from a angle there is a greater chance of deflection affecting impact point. This is my experience.

Yes, I've shot through the mesh windows, it seems liek a negligible effect on trajectory.

You MUST use COC broadheads though. I've shot some muzzy's through the mesh windows and it gets sketchy unless its really close ... like 10yards or less.

Also try to eliminate the angle as SAVIOUR said.

My experience with mesh windows is this:
If you cant to it with an open window, you really can't do it with the mesh either. It will conceal you a bit more, mut the most important thing is that you stay back from the window and that you dont open 2 windows on opposing sides, because then you can get siloutted.

I've shot pronghorn, whitetail, and turkey through mesh with zero problems. The mesh allows you to get by with a lot especially if you adhere to the same clothing considerations you do when not using mesh.

I don't find a problem with arrow flight shooting through the mesh my problem is with vision so I will pull down an area to shoot through......stabow

No problems as long as there are no snags that might occur if the fletching on the arrows are not perfectly "blended" into the shaft. Otherwise the mesh can't be beat for concealment. Love my DB blinds...for turkeys and deer.

Yes, I do it but no, I don't like it.  I do it for all the afore mentioned reasons.  I don't like it because it messes with my depth perception something awful.  Hence I only will take shots 15 yards or less out of them.

The best advice  I can give you is 1-make sure the screen is stretched as tight as you can get it and 2- set your blind up and shoot through it with whatever broad head you intend use and you'll figure out real quick if it works for you or not!
   I personally don't care for it but a lot of guys do. Good luck!!

I have a couple times with no problems with arrow flight, but i hate the mesh for vision and depth perception.  Messes me up.  I also find I lose some hunting time because it is just too dark with it up, and I cannot see well as late in the evening with it.  You don't need it for most stuff.  Deer don't care for the black hole so much.

I have taken several species through the mesh and I cant even tell it is there on the shot.

I have always preferred big broadheads and 3 big 5 1/2 inch fletched arrows as a rule. But, I find that when shooting through mesh a 4 inch 4 fletch arrow tipped with G5 works best. Animals just do not care how your arrows are configured when it hits them. Smaller is better through mesh--at least for me.

I have shot 160 snuffers, 190 ribteks and 200 grizzlies through with no noticeable effect on the flight out to 15 yards.  That being said I dont like it other than the slightly better concealment it gave me last year when I had deer 5 feet outside the blind.

it makes it harder for me to focus in low light (dusk/dawn) and pick a spot....otherwise I like it for keeping bugs out and the camo effect as they focus on the design on mesh not on me wearing black inside of it.

My only real problem with the blinds is that depth perception is a problem in late afternoon as light fades. I probably loose about 10 minutes at the point I decide it is too dark to shoot accurately. But, shooting thru the mesh has never been a problem.

Honestly for turkeys you really do not seem to need the mesh at all. For other species it helps but it has it's drawbacks as noted above.

My experience has been as noted above that if you are back in the blind they cannot see you inside of it. That is without any mask on, if you are masked and blacked out nothing can see you. I have tested this outdoors with my son in the blind and I could not see him in there even without the mask.

Animals other than turkeys do not seem to like the black holes created by non meshed windows. If you can "soften" those holes with brushing or other netting it helps with that problem.

I, like BAK, feel like the mesh screws up my depth perception and therefore my shot.  The arrows shoot fine through the mesh but my poor judgement through the screen has caused me to miss several animals that I think I would have otherwise hit--who knows?!?!

It is hard to practice though the mesh because you obviously fill it full of holes and then need to replace it.
