Hey everyone just wanted to show off my wood arrows. This is my first set. They're Surewood Doug Fir 23/64" 45-46# spine weight matched within 20grains or so. I bought 100 so I was able to match the spine pretty closely.
Cap and crest was done by hand. I don't have a cresting machine built yet.
There's also one 3/8" oak dowel arrow. Actually came out really nice, will leave it long because it spined at 90#. Should finish out at 800gr.
Probably 475gr for the Surewoods. They were some of the lighter shafts.

They look great! Like you been doing it for years!

That dark stain looks great with the green cap. Well done.
Take care,
Jeff

Thanks. I really need to work on a crester because anything fancy is a pain using masking tape or by hand. These are soe shafts in te works but they've really taken a lot of time. This set is 10 hunting arrows and 4 for flu-flu. The flu-flu shafts are a sunburst cap. The hunting shafts are white cap with black and silver. Shafts are 49-50# spine and should end within 30gr. The flu-fils are lighter.

It's almost embarrassing to say how long that took masking off for all those stripes. Lets just say I could probably have built that darn cresting rig.

Surewood Steve

Ben, don't worry about the crester yet, at least you are in there making your own arrows, that is the real satisfaction.  Keep up the good work, I'm glad the bulk shafts worked for you.  Surewood Steve

Ben,

All I can see are red X's.  Maybe you should just bring them to the range Sunday morning and show me how they shoot.

Dowels are from homedepot but they're over a dollar each. It's not really worth searching through them and spinning them all unless you really want heavy arrows. For a few bucks you can buy a matched dozen.
