I did a search for this, nothing comes up for me, so, I noticed on my old recurves (Bear S. Kodiak, Browning Nomad, Shakespeare Necedah), they all have stress cracks/lines running the length of the bows. I've read that this is normal and not much to worry about. My question(s), can they be removed, should they be removed, and will they stay gone? Is the "fix" just cosmetic, or does it truly help?

thanks, Dan

Though unsightly, these vertical stress lines are merely cosmetic in the vast majority of bows with them, and they can be shot without problem.  Those lines you can feel with your fingernail can be touched up with superglue/locktite and there are bow doctors who do this fix.
