Doe on the 4th, buck on the 14th, but lots of action from the 1st on. I got to watch an awful lot of rut action this season, and it went strong here until about Thanksgiving week, then it was like a switch turned off.

Veterans Day, November 11th.... Recording notes for years and that date aways  falls with peak rut within a hundred miles of I70 which traverses most of the length of the central US.

Straight Shootin'

I actually saw the most deer on October 20th, but Nov 9 & 16 weren't bad.

Usually, it's between Nov 7-12.  This year, saw a few nice bucks on Oct. 31, Nov.1 and tagged my buck on the 2nd.

This year, I saw the most action on the 16th of Nov. It varies a few days year to year, but it seems like somewhere between Nov. 10th and Nov. 17th. It can go from absolute zero, like it was for me on the 15th to having as many as a dozen in sight at the same time(Nov. 16th)!

The 1st week of Nov. is usually pretty good here in So. Ia. From Halloween on till almost Thanksgiving is not bad, but the 1st week of Nov. would be my pick. Just before and just after the peak of the rut, seem's to work best for grunting and rattling for me. I've had my best success during this time.

Over the years I have always had my most memorable hunts from Nov 4-10..

Curious what a high end P&Y is ... 180+??

I'm happy with anything 130+.
