Finally got a weekend to get back home from school and spend a little time in the woods. I was getting excited all week and everything just felt right as i got up this morning. Then it started raining. Oh well, it wasn't supposed to last so my dad and I decided to sit it out and take a little nap. Finally got on stand at about 7:20. Around an hour later i heard that distinctive crunch of hoof on leaf and got ready. Saw movement through the hemlocks around my stand, but it took the wrong trail. Glimpsed a main beam and saw him hit a scrape before he disappeared.

I was excited from the initial action and all my senses were on high alert. Kept thinking I heard more coming but didn't see any. Got a text from my dad saying he saw a nice one. Around 8:40 I heard more steps coming my way. At first sight, i knew he was legal and I was ready but he turned in my lane at about 17 yards and started coming my way on the trail that leads right under my stand. He stopped and looked at me but I could only see his left eye, luckily he didn't find anything wrong with the situation. He kept coming and turned at about 10 yards right behind a small hemlock, but was heading for an opening.

A few more steps and he hit a small hole, I thought about it but didn't risk the shot. A couple more and he was in the open again at about 12 yards. I drew and bleated but I'm pretty sure he didn't stop. Auto pilot kicked in. Next thing I knew my yellow arrow was stuck in his spine. Went down right away, but wasn't down for the count. Got down and finished him off.

Congrat's.  There is no feeling quite like when "auto Pilot" kicks in.  Picture??

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.
