Finally got a chance to get int he woods and make some meat.

With life being as hectic as it has been the last year I have had little if any time to hunt. Had a wonderful evening hunt last night after work and it proved bountiful.

Went into a spot I have been hunting for the last twenty or so years and decided to set up on the edge of a thicket hoping to catch a good buck cruising a scrape line. I couldn't have picked a better evening to hunt. Very little wind if any and quiet as church mouse in the woods.

I sat and watched several squirrels play and had a coon come in and mess around a bit. About thirty minutes left of shooting light I hear something coming my way and I know it's the unmistakable sound of a deer walking.

I was in my Guido's web and this deer came in to my back. As I got situated to take a shot I hit full draw on the quarry and it slipped past the hole and I let down. As I let down my arm brushed the tree and the deer turned inside out and hooked it. It stopped about 15 yards in the direction it came from and stopped after it decided it was all good it came back in and offered a perfect broad side shot at 8 yards. I dropped the string and it was a good hit. I watched it run about 60 yards and heard it crash.

Gonna be some stick bow steaks tonight!

Great hunt Sticks.  Those poplar arrows do the job don't they?
