...

A few months ago, I was messing around, and took some old keys laying around knocked off the corners to give it a point and today, I finally got around to attaching them to the shafts.

Depending on how much you cut off, the heads are 90-100 grains.  Plenty good enough for any small game I encounter.

Or turn them around the other way and you could open a door from a long way off!

You might be a redneck if you hunt squirrel with a house key! Great idea Mike.

Very creative! I think Fred Bear used empty .30-06 cases glued onto arrow shafts for small game heads.

Thats am awesome idea!  Way to think out of the box.

I have used a drill to make 2 holes in a fieldpoint 90 degrees from each other and then driven roll pins in them to make a point that is tough and will still catch on grass to keep from loosing the arrow.  It works pretty well

That's a key-per...  Oh boy, I must be getting tired.

I thought about giving each side a single bevel, but decided against it to save weight, and I don't believe it would be necessary for small game.

As tough and tenacious as squirrels are, you'd better be careful, Mike...

If you miss one, it MIGHT just follow you home, chew the key free, use it to unlock your door, and stab you with the shaft as you sleep!    :scared:

I always say, if squirrels weighed 200#, we would not DARE go into the woods!!!

Really, good luck with your innovation!

I will give it the durability test tomorrow night.  I was going to go tonight, now that the wind had died down, left work 2 hrs early only to have my wife remind me it was Holloween.  Who ever makes these holidays really needs to reconsider having them during hunting season.

Shot these arrows into my Rinehart cube target repeatedly, and no problems at all at 10-15 yards.  Satisfied with the reults, I was walking away, and decided to let one more fly.  Hit dead center of where I was looking.  Walked to get the arrow and it was 26 (ish) yards.  I'm completely happy with these.

An arrow can only be shot by pulling it backward. So when life is dragging you back with difficulties, it means that it's going to launch you into something great.

I use 7.62x39 cases and expand the mouth with a 38 special jacketed bullet, then use a kinetic puller to get the bullet out and they slip over an 11/32 shaft. I use epoxy to hold it on and it works great. If I remember correctly they weigh around 160 grains. I leave the spent primer in to stop junk from entering the case.
