Had this little feller at about 10 paces the other day and decided to let him live another day but after I got to thinkin about it it would probably make a pretty cool mount instead of ending up Bobcat fodder! What do ya all think should I or shouldn't I!!

Man... he is beautiful.  Only you can decide that one.  I wouldn't shoot it so that maybe he/she could pass on those genes... and maybe I could see it again someday.  I wouldn't look down on you for shooting it either, as it is truly a rare trophy.

yep, he would have been in the man cave if my aim was true. shouldn't be hard to find him again if you change your mind.

Very unique what a great trophy he would make.

That is one cool looking tree rat right there! If you would spend the $$$ to mount him then you should take him. If not, then let him go.

Make a cool mount!  You just don't see them everyday!

That is a toss up.

I only kill things that I eat, because otherwise I feel as though I have killed in vain.

Eating the animal is a form of respect and so I do not feel as though the life was wasted.

If I saw that squirrel I would shoot it. I would then force myself to eat the animal, as much as I dislike eating squirrels.

Finally, I would make a really neat mount for the man cave. Probably put him in that same pose or one similar on a branch and hang it artistically from the wall.

You would be showing the animal respect each time you shared your story with someone that was visiting.

That pic is all you need. Frame it and hang it in the man cave. A mount will just be collecting dust in no time.

I suppose everyone knows the joke about the guy who brings his dead pet squirrels to the taxidermist.
Taxidermist asks "you want 'em mounted?"
Guy replies "Nah, just shaking hands will be fine."    :bigsmyl:

Richie

Shoot it , would make an awesome mount.

Theres a town here in Illinois that is famed for its albino squirrel population. They're protected by law...now whether thats a local ordinance or state law I dont know as its also illegal here to harvest an albino deer.

I can't believe a hawk hasn't killed it yet, but I would let it live just to maybe see it again some time. Gotta be some kind of omen maybe?

NimRand

That's cool. I do some hunting in Southeast Nebraska and have never seen one. The only one I ever saw was when I took my oldest son hunting in Michigan. We both saw it but he had a good view of it from the treestand. I only saw it bouncing through the brush.

ishoot4thrills

If it's squirrel season, I would try and take him.
