Work has prevented me from hunting all year and I didn't even have time to elk hunt this year.  Anyway, this past weekend, I finally got the chance to go hunting for the first time at my lease in South Texas.

The first morning I had some pigs come in to my setup, but the wind was swirling and one of them winded me and alerted the others.  I was still able to get off a quick (and I mean quick) 20 yard shot on one, but she turned just before my arrow got there and I didn't get enough penetration.  I hit her in the chest and she took off with with my arrow stuck in her.  I waited a while and then went to check for blood but found none.  I looked for about 3 hours and never found the pig or my arrow.  I was using my Palmer 47@29, 30" carbon express 250 and 175 Zwickey 4 blade.  Those pigs are sure tough to kill.

The following morning I had three does at 20 yards but too many limbs were in the way for a good shot so I let them walk.  I also heard some turkeys gobbling nearby but they never showed.

It just didn't happen for me this trip but it's still early and I'm sure things will change.  Besides, the weather has been very warm and humid and the mosquitos are still out in full force.  I can't wait for the weather to cool off.

Good luck to everyone this hunting season.
