I have been doing some R/D on static limbs and have really come to like these limbs in the way they shoot as well as the cast and speed of my arrows.  They are hitting hard, smooth off the fingers and no hand shock.  That's what I really am looking for.  The stability is there in that I am leaving the limb tips at 7/8" width.  There really isn't any real difference in the 5/8 verse the 7/8 tips other than a few fps.  The feel is the same and they both hit hard but I like the stability in the limb.
I am looking to see if there are any interests in these limbs as I am thinking about offering them with my standard riser.
I have had quite a few folks over at the shop and been shooting them, so if any of you are on here you can chime in let these folks know what you all think.
thanks

I have shot Static Tipped bows. I once had a John Fazio. Fantastic cast. The "let off" at full draw was a nice benefit, as well.

Anyone that can make a good static tipped limb has some serious bowyer's skills.

I did make a set for a fellow that had a Fazio bow that he blown up his last set of statics.  Funny thing is that these statics are so close to the Fazio statics and fit really nicely with my risers.  They really shoot well and have a great cast.  Flat shooters they are at that.

Hi Dude, what length are you going to make these static limbs?

Of course I'll likely get you to make me your longest limbs for the hybrid.

I'm getting just a little resistance at 29.5" on the one you just sold me.

Btw, everyone loves the spalted maple veneers.

Another BTW, I killed a yote with your bow the first day back in Ky. Judo point to the skull at 18 yds.
The older I get, the better I was.

William Penn

So, you can retro fit your limbs to a Fazio Riser?????

That is awesome, as the riser could last forever, but the limbs may need to be replaced.

I am making them in a 60 & 62" AMO on a 16" riser.  So add 2 inches for an 18" riser.  I would have to make a riser to see how they act and do some R/D on them first.  But as of now I really like the limbs and how they shoot, feel and perform.  I have had some guys out to the shop and testing for me from a 27"-30" draw in the 60" bow and they haven't fealt any wall but have said they are smooth.  So with that I just might start looking at offering them.

Here are some pics of a bow in a 60" AMO with a 16" riser.

Pretty bow. I like the muted colors but the nice wood grain. Looks like a shooter!

Dave, will you be making these for ILF bows?

trad_in_cali

You'll have to change the name of your company with those!

HMlongbow

I really haven't had the time to r/d for ILF bows right now.  I would have to get with someone that has made them before I jump into that.
The name for the statics is just Hitman Custom Statics.  So I just moved the longbow to static.  lol.....
These bows are really getting some notice and I had another guy shoot them this evening and is on the waiting list to when I will start to offer them..  We will see with a little more R/D and some others shooting them with comments before I make the plung...

refuge:

The generic explanation of static limbs are when the tips don't "uncurl" during the draw.  Designs vary from some that really don't to some that do but less than a full "working" recurve.   usually achieved by stiffening the limb tip with a combination of material and design.

Stability has always been a topic in these designs, but many folks have and are currently producing very nice shooters.  Speed and a different feel (some say smoother) are generally the advantages people tout.  My personal experience is that the speed isn't a big factor but they do feel different and can be a great choice.

Here is a page from John Fazio's old website. Scroll down and he talks about the advantages of Static Tips.

You said it just about perfect in your little report.  I feel that speed is good but stability and performance of limbs is even better.  This mounted to a stable riser makes a great shooting bow.  I really like some of the the FPS readings I have been able to do.
These are the  readings I am receiving from the statics:
60" AMO 63#@29":  610 grain -178fps with a 9.6 grain per pound arrow.
62"AMO  51#@29": 485g arrow- 178fps relates to a 9.5 grain per pound arrow.
62" AMO  51#@29": 610g arrow- 171fps relates to 11.9 grain per pound arrow.

These are the averages that I am posting so let me know what you all think about these numbers.  I have seen that the arrows are hitting rather hard and are exceeding the penetration that I figured they might have.
Thanks
Dave
