A big congrats, I look forward to the story!
The season gave him perfect mornings, hunter's moons and fields of freedom found only by walking them with a predator's stride.

So the past 2 years I have been strictly hunting out at my 33 ac. farm. Only the left half of the property is huntable. There are 2 gas lines that run across that area and a creek borders it. My stand is set up on the edge of the gas line nearest to the creek. The deer come through the my back fence on the gas line, walk about 20 more yards, and give me a perfect 15-17 yd. shot to my right. This year I cut a shooting lane from my stand to the point where they cross the back fence line. Standing at the back fence and looking up at my stand I'm thinking "looks pretty good!" i get up in the stand and I'm like "Yikes, that's a little tight! Not to mention about a 23-25 yd. shot!" Oh well, what ever, I will wait till they get to my other shot like the normally do.

So last night 2 does are coming down the gas line, headed for the the gap in the fence as expected. They come across. The larger of the 2 stands right in the new shooting lane I cut and doesn't want to leave. She ate acorns while stopping every so often to lick her front leg. And all the time broadside! And its getting dark!! So now I'm sitting down, facing directlly at her. The last thing I remember is thinking to myself "She doesn't look that far away!" And the next thing I know I'm bringing my bow up and turning my shoulders as hard as I can to line the shot up, and as soon as I hit anchor I saw nothing but that glowing red Nocturnal go right behing her front shoulder then dissappear....

I'm amazed I was able to watch the arrow that closely! I new I had made a good shot. I called Mike from the stand to tell him the news and he told me to give him a call if I needed his help finding her. I thought for sure that would not be necessary. I called my wife who was leaving from our youngest son's soccer practice. She said she would come out and help me look for it. How awesome is that! I met her up at the barn I'm working on and we went to where the arrow was, stuck in the ground right where I had shot her. THe arrow was covered from front to back with blood. A good little spray right where the arrow was and that was it! We couldn't find a drop for anything!. So as I slip into panic mode I call MIke. Yep man, need your help! He asked was I sure I made the shot I described or could it have been a little further back? I said I knew that was a good shot!! So he shows up and he finds 2 drops within 10 yds. of the arrow in the ground. We veer off into the thick stuff and I end up finding another. After another hour or so we found nothing else, and I am bummed....
