Am having problems with my feathers falling off of my arrows recently. Have used the tape for years but suddenly at this time evertime I use it not holding.

Have cleaned aluminumn shafts with alcohol and a paint thinner both and still no luck.

Any others with this problem.  :dunno:

Bad batch of tape I would say.

Maybe a call to the manufacture is in order.

This kind of thing happens with adhesives all the time.
Silence over speed.  Heavier arrows never hurt.

I always scrub my arrows with a light abrasive material, than clean with denatural alcohol.  Has worked so far.  Good luck.

Try acetone as a cleaner....  works for me.

I bought another brand(not Bohning) and found the same issue.

I have had the same issue recently.  I think Rick is correct.  I bought a couple rolls that are not Bohning.  Big mistake, I think.  I usually put wraps on my arrows and never had any problem until using another brand of tape.  Live and learn...

Blame it on El Nino... a bad batch would probably be a better reason though.

I have had the same problem even with Bohning, I found out the tape was older, I had it for a couple years , buy fresh stuff.

Make sure to wipe your feather base as well. Oils from your skin will cause problems too.

Had this problem a couple years ago and talked to Bohning about it. The tape has a shelf life. Mine was three or four years old.

I keep it in the fridge now in a zip lock with one of those little
Desiccant bags. It lasts a lot longer that way.

I have a new roll of Bohning tape that was doing the same thing. I thought it was something with the wood grain on the carbon shafts. I cleaned them as I always do. They wouldn't stick at all. I ended up super glueing.

I had the same problem this summer with the tape i got from 3rivers. Seemed that the high heat we had was letting them peel off the wraps. Tape was sticking to the fletch and not the wrap. I'll stick to the Gorilla super glue. Never let me down.

I bought some to try last year and pretty much had the same problem.  I was not impressed.  Actually I have not been impressed with any Bohning products.   :dunno:

I use the 'powdered' stainless steel cleaner or ajax to clean aluminum arrows. This type of cleaner probably roughens up the surface a little for better bonding. Also, don't touch the part of the shafts where the feathers go after you clean the shafts as your fingers can leave 'oil' on the shaft...

I have been using tape for a few years with mixed results. I have come to the conclusion that I will go back to good old fletch tite glue. Some folks have good luck with tape, I don't and have tried every thing.

Never had a problem for years but the extreme heat we had last year sent me back to glue.
Has your tape ben exposed to high heat?

I have not had any problems with tape since I started cleaning both the shafts and the bases of the feathers with plain old rubbing alchohol.
