Brothers and Sister,
11 Years Ago Today, I sat at the Fire Station watching like everyone else the events of that day play out. As the sun set on that day of days, none of us were sure what was going to happen , but we all knew the world as we knew it then had changed.
Today,  we all should take a moment and say a prayer for this great nation of ours.... We still have folks that are in Harms Way, protecting us from those that would seek to bring danger to our shores. It is a time for Remembrance and Prayer.... Lest we forget all those that have sacrificed , and those that go once more into the fray in our defense.

I remember where I was standing the moment I heard the news.  I will never forget.  Pray that our nation never forgets and that we let that image help to direct our actions.

I had a 7:30 flight out of Westchester Co airport to Norfolk Va with a 10 min layover in D.C.  It was a tuesday morning, exactly like today in NY.  Cobalt blue skies. I remember looking at the Twin Towers as we took off. it hadnt been hit yet.  We landed in D.C at 8:50  we were supposed to take off at 9:00 am.  We didnt take off till around 9:30.  I had no idea what was going on.  I remeber looking at the Pentigon as we took off.  It hadnt been hit yet.
I didnt find anything out until we landed in Norfolk.  I was a police officer working for NYC Dept of Environmental Protection at the time.  I remember the sinking feeling in my chest and the feeling of helplessness. I didnt get back to NY till the 14th.  then the work began.

Please Never Forget.

Still remember looking out my office window watching the second plane hit and the towers coming down. I didn't lose any friends but my friends did. I'll never forget how I felt that day and the days after.

I was at home rather than at the Navy Annex (the plane flew over on its way to the Pentagon about 400 yards away) Starting on Wed. I spent the next month at the Sheraton Inn working in the Joint Family Assistance Center which is where we offered support to the families of the dead and missing in the Pentagon.  Every morning on my way in for the first few days I would see the smoke rising from the Pentagon.  No press was allowed in and very few stories came out.  It was amazing to see some of the people we call famous come to the center to talk with the families.  One actress in particular (no I am not going to say who she was) came every day and spent hours just talking to people.  I think she did a lot of good.

The images of people plummeting to their death, are forever seared in my mind.
Never forget!

I was still working for the P.D. on that day and was off-duty. After seeing the news report that morning I called my Hq and was advised that NYPD had put out a Hotline requesting assistance from surrounding departments. Myself and 21 other members of my department responded to their request. I was standing by a triage center and talking to my wife on the phone telling her where I was and that I was okay when building 7 collapsed. We spend a week down there helping out. The images of that day are forever etched in my mind. I Will NEVER Forget!!
