Spot and stalk too.  There are very few straight trees in my neck of the woods.

My favorite method is my least successful.  I like to print out a map from Google Earth or Flash Earth, grab my bow, gps, possible pack, and set out exploring.

Looking over new area, reading sign, maybe marking a tree and trimming a few branches, then settling into a cozy spot on the ground for the last hour or so of light.  I have yet to actually get one on these trips, but have had some cool encounters.  Nothing like finding a new spot.

As far as success, tree stand all the way.  Usually at a spot I found on one of my exploring trips.

Spot and stalk puts on "even ground" with the game. It is the way I like to hunt also. Probably could be much more successful at times if I used a tree stand...just can't sit in one for hours on end wondering what is over the next ridge.

Still hunting and spot and stalk out west.  Tend to use more tree stands and an occasional ground blind in the midwest deer hunting.

I use to do a lot of still hunting many years ago, but it was always torture for me having to hold myself back, slow down, etc. I always feel like everthing's already seen, heard or smelt me where I am and think just over behind those trees looks better anyway.

I'm just too impatient to enjoy it. So I hunt for good spots then climb a tree so I will stay put a while.
