12 yards for me too on deer.  A little closer on small game.

Swinestalker

10-12 yards. Killed a big hog last saturday at 18 yards. That is a long shot for me.
Having done so much, with so little, for so long, I can now do anything with nothing.

I have killed from 6yds to 27yds, but I would say average, 12-15

I think I have averaged about 12-15 with any weapon for over 20 years.

My average shot distance (all traditional bow kills) across 50-60 game animals including many different species is 13 yards with a high of around 40 and a low of 3.

From 5 to 35 yards, but most are about 10 yards for hogs and just a little further for deer.

Shortest base of tree.  Dont recommend this shot with stickbows but it happened back at immaturity stage of hunter with stickbow, luckily deer was recovered.  Longest 63 yards in field on turkey.  Dont recommend that either, just felt right one morning.  Average from treestand on deer would be 8-15 yards.  I set most stands when I can for a 10-15 yard shot, so stand placement will be a critical factor in expected shot distance.

Shot

Average distance hunting out west 25 yards. Shortest 12 yards. Longest shot 30 yards. All on the ground, spot and stalk.

My closest was about four feet on a hog that one of the wheelie guys in my hunting group wounded. Farthest was a shade over 40, also wounded by the same wheelie guy on the same trip to Texas. After the recovery on the long shot we found the original hit was not a mortal hit. Never hunted with that guy again.

I believe in getting another arrow in a wounded critter anytime it's possible.

Most of my critters are shot between 10-15 yards, the easier the shot the better the recovery rate.
