When you tie a silencer on to the string,,what material do you use? I am not talking about pushing the cat whisker through the string.. I like it on the outside so I get a nice round silencer..

Just tie it in a half knot around the string. That's what I do. Others may have another way though.

I use the same material as the center serving. I tie a series of half hitches, about 5, and finish it off with a double knot. Holds really well.

I use D97 (or similar) string material.

String material or serving material is what I use.  I wrap it twice, tie a tight square knot, wrap twice more, another square knot, then burn the tags and melt them into the knot so it can't slip.
