has anyone tried to video their hunts with a GoPro camera? How did it work out for you?

I heard they are not very good in low light. Their target market is bright sunlight people.

I am not an expert and they may have addressed this issue by now, but read about this being a problem for those who do things in the wane hours of the day, like us!

I plan on using my buddies this year. We'll see I guess

I actually have one and they do a decent job.  I like them more for a second camera angle or to mount to your bow shooting back at you.  They work decent for footage in the woods but again there is no zoom so you are more a less sight of view so it gets worse the farther out the deer are.

the newer models are pretty sweet because they come with a remote which I use.  this past turkey season, we mounted the go-pro on the ground about 2 feet away from the turkey decoy and it got killer footage.  so we had great footage from inside the blind plus footage from the go-pro on the ground which was really cool.

I have one and plan on using it this fall for some hunting footage. They do have a very wide angle lens, but I can see scenarios, like the turkey footage noted above, where they could produce some really cool effects. They are really bulletproof, and I have submerged mine (in its' case, of course) to get pics underwater. I have also attached mine to my mountain bike and got some neat footage. Here is something I did with mine; it will give an idea of how wide angle the lens is, but also that it takes pretty clear video.

Got my kid the GO PRO HERO II for  snow boarding and such( been to the Rockys with it ) takes great movies BUT battery needs a back up when cold or on very hi def. and doesn't hurt to have an extra card( they love the head mount looks same place they do) camera seems strong no damage after some hard falls(and the kid was ok to)

I've videoed a couple hunts with mine.  The wide field of view makes things look farther than they are.  Overall, I try to have it on me at all times.  Regardless of whether or not the video turns out, you never know unless you try.

I just bought the Sports-vue 360 HD for an upcoming hunt in September. It has a remote which I like. I will let you know how that one works. When I compared the two cameras the Sports-vue won out. They have a comparison video on the Sports-vue web site for a comparison. The reviews I saw were great and it was less expensive with more features that the GoPro.

I got a GoPro Hero2 early summer, have not hunted with it yet but used it a ton.  Cant beat the protability and functionality built into this unit.  The durability and quality of the footage is amazing.  It all depends on how you intend to use it.  I plan to augment my normal hunting footage with the Hero.  The issue I have is the lack of zoom for critters 75 yards and beyond.  While the detail and quality are superb it will be difficult to showcase animals outside bow range.  I will likely body mount my hero for stalking or mount to the tree while in the stand.  I will continue to use my flip cam to capture animals comming from a distance into range.  The two cam perspective will enhance my final edit.  Regardless I give the Hero2 a 10 out 10 for what it does best.

Blessings
