I used macassar veneers in this bow.

if you like dark wood with really tight grain there is no way you are ever going to do better than macassar ebony...only drawback in my mind is the weight...i have a jon gharing takedown with macassar ebony riser with a padauk curved stripe...i have posted pics in the past if you can figure out where they are....my pics posting days on tradgang are over...uses up too much valuable practice time
I set out a while ago to reduce my herd of 40 bows...And I am finally down to 42

Oh Felix....

I know you have some pics you could share.

By the way, you cost me 150 bucks in wood last time I was at Dave's

Dan Adair

Except mine will be Masassar in the middle and B&W ebony on the flares  :D

One thing to keep in mind; macassar ebony varies greatly regarding it's looks. Some pieces are very dark with little grain. Others have all kinds of figure and grain.

I would have Jim inform you of the pieces he has.

Joe Vt. DANG!! you have some nice bows. All these are nice though, and I thank you all again. Joe I will ask Big Jim to inform me of what he has on hand. Good call. They do vary a bit don't they. I really am liking the looks of this variety of wood fellas'. rat'

It does vary GREATLY. I had one made years ago and didn't care for it because it was just about solid black. NO grain.   BILL

This is my Brackenbury NonTypical. Not a great picture as it is absolutely stunning in person.

To me, the ultimate challenge in bowhunting is not how far away you can succesfully make a killing shot but rather how close you can get to the animal before shooting.
