What do you guys consider to be the best all-around string silencer for hunting?  My Tall Tines bow came with some wool string silencers that look really cool, but I'm worried about them getting wet and really slowing the bow down.  What are the pros/cons to the different materials?  Catwhiskers? Wool? Limb saver? Tarantula?  Enlighten me....

I spent a lot of time on this topic not long ago, and it dissapeared.  I'll be happy to give my opinion via pm or e-mail if you want it.

Slowing it down????.....don't worry about it! At hunting distances it's not an issue! But you can do a search on the topic....it's been discussed in depth!
In the beginner's mind there are many possibilities. In the expert's there are few...So the most difficult thing is always to keep your beginner's mind...This is also the real secret of the arts: always be a beginner.  Shunryu Suzuki

Heck just get you a roll of wool yarn and you'll have a lifetime supply. The wool balls work well for me, they're my favorite out of the ones you had mentioned. I shot in the rain at a 3D few weeks ago and I had no major issues, other than me.

If you are looking for Puff style..Terry Green Has it Nailed,I got a Thousand ft of wool from the Fabric store, and Terry's stuff is more Stiffer, probably because of the Strand count,Just smell the diff.in Bad weather you can see the advantage of folks who are in the buisness of wool, and that is Chuck and Terry,They know wool...

SkottyBoy

Wool yarn user here also. Not.the acrylic stuff real wool.

I bought and tried yarn and im back to cat whiskers.   Just like the look better, seems like a better option in the rain, and they work great.

I use catwhiskers, wool yarn, llama wool, and Hush Puppies. I like the Puppies the best. Bowhush is also great for recurves. By the way, Terry is a fine individual and I like supporting his girls.

I prefer cat whiskers. I use nine strands but your mmv. I like them for the fact they never pick up stuff and work well.

Meow!

For some of the reasons already mentioned... but mostly because in the bush one night a mouse cut a few strands of my bowstring while removing my non rubber silencers.
May your next adventure lighten your heart, test your spirit, and nourish your soul.
