low wrist recurve

So I am thinking about purchasing a recurve. I am thinking about grips and the dos and don'ts. I currently shoot a longbow with what I think is a low wrist grip.

I am wondering if this will work with a recurve. I see it as an option on the Silvertip. Quite frankly that is what I looking at ordering. I just want to understand the pitfalls.

No pitfalls with it at all that low grip is the most popular request on our bows. Less likely to torque the bow with a low wrist grip

I too prefer a low wirst grip myself,I don't see what would be wrong if thats the type of grip you like.A 50's style recurve has a grip and riser more like a longbow.Black Widow offers a low wrist grip for their recurves also.And I'm sure that with most custom bows you can get the grip you like within reason.

That's why I love the dorado riser. I shoot the normal low wrist grip.

Holm-Made River Runner....great feeling low grip! He offers a 50's style and a 60's style as well as a Kodiak grip.

Pretty much the only type of recurve I shoot these days. I shoot a lot of longbow, and it makes the transition a easy one.

It looks like I may need to check out vendors that have them at Denton Hill.

I think I would like to shoot a couple before making a decision.

I put a low wrist grip on my Morrison ILF recurve and I really like it.

I prefer a low wrist grip on my bows as well.  I primarily shoot longbows, but my go-to bow as of late is a Sarrels Archery Puma which is a forward riser recurve with a low wrist grip.  It's a unique design, very forgiving, and the grip melts right into my hand.

Acadian Woods also offers a low wrist option and Tim's bows are pretty easy on the eyes too!

I am a longbow shooter.last year I got a silvertip with a low grip an I love it like crazy the grip is perfect an the bow shoots great .I hope you decide to go this route you wont regret it.good luck ED

Boy, they are not for me!  I get elbow pain quickly from shooting a low grip.  A medium/high works wonders for my shooting and comfort.  I guess it's a good thing there are all types available...

BW PSR or RER XR.   Bow great bows with a lower wrist.  

The PSR has more of a traditional longbow-like low wrist grip but is definitely a shooter.

The RER XR has a low wrist grip that feels better in my hand, so much so that I sold the PSR to buy the XR.

That being said, I can't say that I shoot the XR any better than the PSR.  Both are absolute tack drivers and smooooth.

I have super high grips to low grips on my recurves and don't notice any difference. I think if you shoot any bow enough you can get used to the grip. Unless of course its painful.  Here is a low grip on my black canyon recurve.

Mike Mecredy of Maddog offers a low wrist style grip on his recurves.  I hear they are awesome and I am certain that if they are anything like his longbows you just hit the jackpot.  Give him a look see.  You won't be sorry you did.  God Bless
