Matt Hamilton has one of my one piece bows and suggested that I try the heavy hitters side of bows.  I will be passing around a 79#@28" 62" AMO bow.
This bow has bamboo cores with double set of carbons. The handle is cocobolo/bocote with glass inlays.  I will post some pics of this bow and it is right handed.  Sorry lefties on this one.  I am thinking about the Africa hunters in mind as some have posted interest if they can bring it to Africa and try it out.  I think it is a great idea and seeing what others think.
Oh yes, I have done some new things with the handle and it is based on a 50's style grip, low to medium and similiar to alot of styles out there.  I have made some handles to fit this now, so I will offer this handle to anyone that would like to buy a bow as well.
Matt Hamilton had voiced some concern and interests with this style as it fits just about everyone in comfort and shoot ability.  I have redone one of my personal handles just becuz I like it so much.  I have made handles similiar to this in the past with client's suggestion.
Thanks and good shooting,
Dave

Dave,

I would like to be the first to give this new bad boy a try.

You make some awesome bows. The re-worked riser you made for me was perfect.

I'm not saying that it is impossible to take a one piece bow to Africa, but I will say that I am not going to be the one to take it. Do you make your bows like that one in a two piece model for those who like their baggage to be shorter than they are?    :D

I'll hop on that list!    Let me know, it could spend a day or two chasin elk with me, been looking for a quiet one piece longbow

Yes this is a 3 piece T/D model.  Sorry for the confusion on this as I didn't clarify myself well enough.  Any questions or concerns please voice here.
Thanks and good shooting

I'd give it a whirl.  Right now I'm shooting a 71# ILF setup so I think I might be able to handle the extra weight.  If its doable, I'll take it on a Sept. whitetail hunt.

Well so far there are three folks and I will check the African hunters as well.  I have the bow on the sticks right now finishing the spray.

Wow Dave, what a great opportunity for the heavy bow crowd.

At my draw length this will be too heavy for me, but I look forward to seeing the finished bow and the reviews from those who can handle it!!!

What arrows do you shoot out of a bow that heavy?LCH

HMlongbow

Matt what are your recommendations and what do you shoot?  I think a big game arrow around the 15-17 gpi would work.

Dave,

Uh? You asking me about arrows? I am not much of an expert. I shoot AD Trads. 725 gr.

x2

I shoot AD hammerheads and some trads.  The hammerheads come out to 10-11 gpi on my 75-85# bows.   The trads are closer to 9gpi. And thats with brass inserts and 300 gr tips.

I have heard the hammerheads are great arrows and I have some trad lites for my 50lb bows.  They are really easy to tune and fly straight.

Since my 71# has a plunger, I can use GT 55/75's with it, but I'm going to build some GT 75/95's with brass inserts and probably internally weight the arrow if needed.   The 55/75's weigh about 630 so I'd like to add 150 grains.  My arrow length will only be about 29-29.75 depending on if I foot it and what spines better.

I wouldn't mind giving this a little workout. Been thinking about trying a 3 piece to make travel easier. Let's see how well it can take down some Florida hogs.

bawana bowman

Can not believe how little interest there is in trying this bow. This is a great opportunity for trying a heavy 3 piece bow. This type offer doesn't come around very often.
Guess there must not be many of us that can shoot 79#?

HMlongbow

seems to be five to six people so far so lets see what and if anyone else is interested.

I will try to keep this on front page to see of any interests.
