Looking into buyin a browning wasp and was wondering if anyone had any input as to how good these bows are? Any info about them will be a help. Thanks

They are good little bows, underrated as far as I'm concerned. They were sold as an entry level bow years ago, IIRC, but good bows nonetheless. Some cracking around the accessory mounting hole is fairly common on these, and not a big concern. If you can buy it reasonably, go for it.

Good bows, but they stack up a bit at longer draws.  Anything longer than 28" can be a challenge.

The shelf is also very flat, but a bit of time with a rasp and sandpaper takes care of that.

Aight thanks. Its in good shape I didn't see any cracks on it. The guy wants 80 for it and it has no string.  Sound like a good deal?

SCATTERSHOT

I'd buy that in a heartbeat

Buy it, they are great bows. Just make sure the limbs aren't twisted if you can.

Take it.  Even a mild twist on the Wasp is usually easy to get rid of with some hot water and a little patience.

When you buy a string for it,  just remember that fastflight is not  an op tion

Good luck!

I love my Wasp. You'd better buy that one at $80. They are a very fast shooting bow and very manageable. They're great bows!

Mine doesn't have an insert in the front. I still use it for bowfishing but I use an adapter for mounting a Zebco 808 to the front.

I shot these two fish recently from a high bridge with my 51#@28" Wasp(I draw less than 27") and had no trouble with penetration from high up:

Here's the bridge I was shooting from:

58" JK Traditions Kanati Longbow
Ten Strand D10 String
Kanati Bow Quiver
35/55 Gold Tip Pink Nugents @ 30"
3 X 5" Feathers
19.9% FOC

171 FPS @ 9.7 GPP (475 gr. 3D arrow)

I had a wasp. It was a fast and steady little bow. the only reason I sold it was to make money for an elk trip. I think I sold mine for 80. I think it could have made a perfect tight quarters bow. it had the smallest grip I have seen on a browning.

Why can't you put a fast flight on it? I'm new to this sport so bear with me. Nice pics! I would love to get a bow setup jus for fishing

The limbs need the stretch and vibration absorbtion of Dacron. Plus the limb tips from years back are not set up for FF. Maybe they could be beefed up for FF but I'd stay with B50 or B55.

If you ever need that bow refinished I know a guy who recently refinished two and put them up for auction.  I'll bet those two, with newly radiused shelves, shoot REAL well.   ;)

Picked one up at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago for $5.00.  It's an 8 out of 10 , 47#er.  Has a real smooth draw.  Use B-50 strings on it.

Wow 5 dollars! Can't beat that at all. Wish I could get that lucky

Bud B., I can tell you as soon as John gets that lefty finished...not sure when that will be.  I talked with him at Compton's but didn't get any time frame.

I have a 56", 47' Wasp and love it.  Great shooting little bow and sure zips an arrow.  I actually chronoed it at about 15fps faster than my 56' longbow, but then again I guess curves are supposed to be faster   :)

I used a FF string on my wasp and on the second shot it ripped the top limb. Made a believer outta me.
