October 15 here in southern NY... the deer herd looks good this year in Orange Co., most Does have twins with a few triplets, many smaller bucks(6's and 8's) and a few slammers, all looking fat and sleek.

Sept 29 for us in the Buckeye State, although I don't get real excited about hunting until November.

Sept 15... been watching deer go in and out of the corn field that borders our woodlot on the farm...
Feed corn won't be cut yet if we get some rain... if not there will be a lot of stubble.
Haven't seen any decent racks, but I am a meat hunter... good corn fed venison is all I need.

Oct 1 here. Hunt for bucks early, then lay off of them until late Oct and into the rut, if that's what you're after. I always hunt does. Eventually, you'll have both of them in close proximity. Get busted by a mature buck and you may not see him again the rest of the year!

October 13th in New York Southern Zone. 73 days and a wake up!
Someday you and I will take the Great Hart by our own skill alone, and with an arrow. And then the Little Gods of the Woods will chuckle and rub their hands and say, "Look, Brothers. An Archer! The Old Times are not altogether gone!"

Last Month we had our Coast mt. Archery only.
And in Oct I get to go back to the coast with an Either sex tag....
So that makes for 3 Deer seasons for me this year....

It doesn't matter how or what you shoot, as long as you hit your target.
