Will 5 grains really make a difference

I was thinking about shootin 150 broadheads but the closest field points I could find are 145 grains. If I tune my arrows to these field points and then shoot a 150 grain broadhead will it make alot of difference.

How a set-up is determined 'tuned' must first be ascertained. If properly tuned, then the difference should be neglible unless tuned at the extreme edge of being underspined.

A $100 bill weighs 14-15 grains.  If you think it will make a difference, tear a $100 into thirds and tape it onto the points of three of your arrows and shoot a group  with them along with three of your 5 grain less arrows.

You will have a hard time convincing me a target Olympian archer could tell the difference in 5 grains of point weight, much less us here.

i agree  with the powerpoint the added length will have effect but it could even out the weight between 145 and 150 heads

Changing from a field point to a broadhead in and of itself makes a difference.  Just sticking a BH that weighs the same onto a shaft does not make it fly the same.

I'll go with "no" as well, I regularly shoot 125 & 150grn heads on the same shaft with little or no difference at hunting distances, but I'm sure my arrows do fall in the "perfect flight" part of the graph. Well they fly great for me!!

Funnin aside, Friend has a point.

Take woodies which are usually sold in 5 lb ranges. Your bow likes 50 static spine with 125gr tips. Then take one of the shafts in that range spined at 55 with the same tip and you will likely see some difference in flight.

The extreme will show release and form flaws more than likely.

Carbons and aluminums not so much. I've gone as much as 50gr difference and gotten good flight from GT Trads. Same with BHs on carbons.

Throw a BH on there and everything changes. Most likely you'll need to start over with arrow tune.

The answer to your question is NO!!!

That is the exact setup I shoot (150gr BH) so if you are anal about it like me you can just buy the 5gr brass washers that 3Rivers sells and make your field points 150gr also.

My arrows are well tuned and I have not found a 150gr BH that will not fly true on the end of my arrow (my arrows are GT carbons).
