went out yesterday morning had heard a bird all morning so went back to an area where my dad and i had seen lots of activity in the past so we set up the blind and got comfy.. after about an hour of making calls every fifteen minutes or so dad decided to lay down for a little siesta... he wasnt out ten minutes when i looked up and all i could see was red white and blue i instantly started to shake because i could tell this bird was locked on to the decoy... i shook dad and he got up . he thought i was messing with him but as soon as he noticed the intensity on my face and in my demenor he got serious as well... i grabbed my 54# selway shooting easton axis tipped with centaur battle axes and got ready... the bird made it to 12 yards when dad said let him have it! i burned a hole at the wings butts hit anchor and let her fly i hit him a touch high and broke his back hit hit the ground instantly! i bailed out of the blind and took off after him he was a nice 2 yr old with 9 inch beard and 1 inch spurs! this was the single most gratifying hunt of my life. i had originally started shooting trad gear and shot it all my life till i was 15 and lost all confidence and didnt want to practice but i picked the stick back up this year and calimed i was going to become the best BOWHUNTER i could be and dedicated all of my spare time to shooting and getting rready. well it paid off yesterday!
