So I pull into my drive this afternoon and I see a long white box at my front door. ARROWS!!!!
I got almost as excited as when I get a new bow. The reason being is that I have had my second Schulz longbow for a couple months now without a proper arrow to sling with it.

I had called a couple of different folks discussing arrow options and then a month or so ago I see a post from snag at Wilderness Custom Arrows about some rare, heavy shafts from Surewood. After a phone call and some more discussions around length and point weight that I wanted to shoot, I ordered these.

They are 125-130# spine cut to 29" BOP and I am starting out at 190 grain points, hoping I can get 200 or better with proper arrow flight. I shot a few today and they appear to fly pretty good but I want to take some time and paper tune when I am fresh and have some time to tinker.
Today I was just too tired.

Bottom line is they turned out really sharp and just what I asked David to do. I like a bright, but a bit more simple design than many. These are all business and I hope to introduce one to a Hog perhaps later this summer.

Simple dark stain with 5" shield cut LW Chartreuse feathers, green, white and gold crests.

First 3 arrows from 10 yards. I am smiling about now!

And my best 3 from 20 yards.

Total arrow weight is around 770 grains and they are smoking coming out of the Schulz. Very happy and already called David and told him to keep his eye out for another set of these shafts. I forget how many shafts David said it took to find a dozen of these but he advised I not go stumpin' with these.   :biglaugh:

Thanks David. VERY satisfied with the end result and will be buying from you again!

Those shafts were meant for you Steve. Not very many guys shoot a 102# bow! Out of 1000's of shafts you may find a few with this spine range. Very rare. So glad they are flying good and am looking forward to seeing a picture of the hog you introduce to them!

LOL  Looking at your  bow,   MY HH big 5  is one of the last ones  SHULZ  made  for HH Co. before leaving  to go on his own  but it looks ALMOST  Identical  to  yours. You can tell a Shculz bow right off  even those he made for HH .    Nice bow!!!!!   Mine  is   71# at  29" .   Havn't shot it in a long time  ( Shoulder issues )     But it was my first custom bow !  Good luck with yours  !!!!!

Miles of good in this post. Way to go Steve w/the slick arrows! Surprised any target could hold them at the lightspeed & weight they're traveling! Pretty tight 20 yard group too! Hog medicine indeed w/200 gr razor sharp bh's!

Much obliged Snag for finding the shafts. Your already favored stock went up with me for helping out my bud here.

Those do look like nice arrows. I tend to agree with you on simplicity. While I do like some of the very fancy arrows, there is something lethal looking about "working class" arrow that tells game to duck for cover. sounds like you've got the task list for these arrows very well planned. Good luck, and remember, we also want to see what these arrows look like with blood on them.

I just received a picture of a young man who had me build him some arrows. He killed a very nice British Columbia black bear with a good ol' Surewood shaft. Complete pass thru with 650grs of wood. Pretty cool.
