Someone PMed me and asked to see pics of my macassar ebony Viperkahn last week. I *THINK* the PM was lost when the original thread from whence it originated was deleted. I don't remember who asked, but here are some pics from my phone...which aren't very good. Our camera seems to have gone walkabout.

Thanks Joe. I picked it up from a fellow Trad Ganger. It's one of my favorites...right behind the 3 Eaglewing bows I have! It really isn't a good comparison to Sixby's bows, though. The Habu is 50@28, while the EW's are 62, 65, and 69@28. When I shoot the Habu beside my other 50# bows, it draws the smoothest and shoots the quietest.

Copperheads on the back...macassar on the belly. It has changed a tad since I got it from Randy.

I love my VyperKhan's, I have two of them.  Never saw that wood combination though but I sure like it.  Do you have carbon cores of bamboo?
habujohn

Andy Cooper

Hi John,

Sorry to have missed this for so long! It appears to me that this triple carbon bow has the following: back veneer macassar ebony, then carbon, bamboo, carbon, bamboo, carbon, macassar ebony veneer on belly. Rastaman was the original owner, so he may know sumpin' I don't!

Regards,

Andy

Thanks Andy I appreciate the information.  It sounds a lot like my newest bow except it is in cocobola.

I'm hoping for a Macassar version (recurve) in 2013. I've been on the list for 15 months but don't expect the bow for another 12 or so.

I may be asking a bowyer who has me on a late July build list to mimic my Habu grip on his bow. The bowyer in question seems to be, from posts, e-mails and conversations, one of the most accommodating in this way of any I've worked with. He knows who he is.
