So what kind of Berry bow do you have? style? weight #?  James Has some killer bows and they shoot insanely great!!!!!!!! The craftsmanship is second to none. My Vixen is just killer and lighting fast at #78, shooting a 1009 grain arrow.

Arrowang

James built me an APPOLLO 60lbs back in 07
That bow has been around and is back with me.
Probably the last longbow I will ever own, pretty serious statement but hey these longbows really shoot like hell and are plain beautiful to look at.Dont see many of them over here in Oz.

After all the post i ordered my first custmon bow from him!!! It is the Argos, 70" and 50# @ 28" it is going to be made with yew and his special nocks which will be black....as close to an ELB but with real performance!!!

Now the dreaded wait.....sigh

Better tell Mr. Berry to put the berry bug on the upper limb just so it shoots better. I know I would have him put it on mine. I got a standing bet with him that my berry bow will out perform his new berry bow in June. Gotta have the berry bug. My wife loves her Argos . Awesome bow. #40 @ 25" 62".

TOEJAMMER

Picked up a 64 inch 54 lbs. at 27 inches Taipan from a fellow Tradganger a couple of years ago.  One of the very best decisions I ever made.  Lighter than any of my other bows but shoots great and  seems to hit harder than 54 lbs.  Needless-to-say, I'm very well satisfied.

We should start a J.D Berry club....

I have a Yahaw (spelling) it's 64" 64#@28". I ordered it right after there was an interview in TBM.

KY..Rob

I heard a story once about how the "Berry Bug" came to be. I think it had something to do with Ken Beck, (Black Widow Bows) Maybe someone can shine some light on this.

Rob..

Catskill Longbow

I had a Berry Screaming Eagle, the reason for my handle on TradGang.  Sold it because I needed the money.  That bow was a real shooter! Shouldn't have let it go.

Bladepeek

I just spent a short hour looking at his web site. If I join the "sell a bow a month" club, I could soon afford a new Apollo. Now THAT would be exciting!

Shinken

One cannot go wrong with a JD Berry longbow!

Experienced my first one in 1989 at a 3D shoot in La Grande, OR...it is a sound choice for D/R style longbow!

Keep the wind in your face!

Shoot straight, Shinken

Yes the Berry bug story is a funny one at that.I think I am going to drive over to JD's place and sand my name off my Vixen and have JD put "The Dark Lord" On it refering to my Cape Buffalo hunt this June. I have been trying to come up with a great name for my Vixen and I think it fits well. My Vixen is the bomb of all Vixens. Sorry Rackley but its true. At #78 its a beast that unleashes an arrow like no other with pin point accurace that only a skeeter can appreciate. I do think we need to start a forum just for Berry Bow's.
Shot my Vixen today with my newly made Hickory arrows weighing in at 922 grain. Breast tapered, 225 grn tuffhead and they shoot GREAT!!!
Watch out Cape Buff here I come.

Got my 66"60@28 Vixen on order should have it the end of the month. Aloha

Nice day here and we can't hunt on sunday,so I broke out all my bows and shot a while. Gotta say I still love my Berry Serpentine!Pic is the 1st 3 shots from her at 24 yards. Not great, but not bad for just shooting a couple weeks after a 7-8 year lay off.I want to concentrate on shooting Hill style longbows this time around.I'm going to call up James and have a Vixen built. What limb core and riser woods are you Vixen owners using?

SELFBOW19953

I have 3 Berry's, a Renaissance, a Yaweh, and a Taipan that JD told me he believes is the first one he sold.  He went on to tell me that it was used to make a one shot kill of an adult male lion in Africa.

I've only shot an arrow through one Berry bow and it was a Yaweh.  I only shot one arrow though as that bow defined hand, actually elbow, shock for me.  I'm glad I didn't own it.  I will say it was one gorgeous and well built bow.
