HillGang-

We are about two months away from the 1st Annual Hill Hunt. Everyone should be ready by now to hunt wild boar in Southern Georgia in February. We will finally be able to put face's with the name's and avatar's that we all know so very well. I'm looking forward to meeting new friends, sharing stories, and walking back from a morning hunt with my Hill longbow, backquiver, and wood arrows.

Darren, Feelings are mutual, Rossco and I are planing to ride down together. We intend on coming to Georgia a few days early but not sure of exact date yet. It'a going to be great to meet everyone and hunt hard for some pork.Never hunted pigs before, so I'm really excited
about the new adventure.

Thanks again for putting this hunt together   :clapper:    :clapper:    :archer2:

Darren and fellas...and you too Killy...

It doesn't look like I will be going now.  I have a big commercial storefront glazing job that was supposed to be started and finished in January get postponed to the first of February...so unless the miraculous happens and I get finished early and can get a red-eye flight into GA at the last minute,  I will be installing mucho windows with my crew while you people are wandering around mist-laden forests with longbows and backquivers and silently piercing hogs with wooden sticks.  AAAAHHHHRRRRGGG

As one of the originators of this hunt,  I wish you all much fun and excitement, and if there is a hope for me to get there,  I will.

Nate-

It's good to hear that your business is doing well, but it's also disappointing to hear you may not be able to make. Maybe next year we can bring the hunt closer to you, and we can have 85 Hill bowman wandering the mountains of Idaho for big game with you and Ric as our guides.

Help from you Gyawjans please....

In reading the reg book, I take it with a WMA license a GORP is not needed.

I also take it that small game season is in for the time period of the hunt. Will that require check-in or sign-in since this is not a managed hunt? I'm having a hard time finding specific answers to whether or not we'll be required to check in or sign in when hunting hogs during small game season.

When the GDNR folks return I plan on making a call to find out for sure but thought I'd check in here too.

I may hunt longer than the three days of the hill hunt. Is there anyone else planing to stay past the hill gang hunt? Would require a regular non resident fishing and hunting licence at 100.00 instead of the three day license @ 20.00. Maybe I'll plan on doing some fishing too.I would continue to camp at the WMA in all likely hood.

Sorry to hear you'll be busy making a living Nate. Will have to put off matching a voice to a handshake until some future date. A west coast gathering next year sounds good to me!

I missed out this year due to work, but maybe next year. A buddy of mine used to live in Hawkinsville and hunted pigs there quite a bit. We were catching up today and I mentioned the hunt. Next thing you know, we were both pulling out laptops and checking maps. If I make it for the 2014 hunt, I'll have some good spots to check out.

Randy, If you do bring firewood, a big thank you from all the gang as I'm sure it will be much needed.

Darren, Do you know if we can drive and park our cars right up to our camp sites or do they have to stay in a parking area.If in a parking area, how far is it to the camp site.Just thinking about the convenience of locking things up.

You can drive to your tent. This a primitve campsite with great access. Not a managed hunt so no sign in.

David Mitchell

RC, would a pop-up camper work there?  Just trying to figure what would be best.
