Great thread, I love looking at these bows.  An amaizing array of talent on here.

Here's my best to date.  Hazelnut with snake skins.

Here's a bow that one of my archery students did years ago from a 1x2 red oak board.  I wish I had a pic of him at full draw, he did a wonderful job of tiller for a first try.  Way better than my first, or second, or third, or...

I'll put a few up.  Most of my pics have dead animals with the bows.    :bigsmyl:  But that's what I make em for!

The first I think is an osage selfbow, and a rawhide backed yew selfbow.  The osage bow went on to take a couple critters.

Next is a couple of experimental bows.  I named them Frankenstein and "the bride".   Both are made of parts of "dead and gone" bows, put together with some new techniques....that worked!  They're ALIVE!  And still shooting fine.   Frankenstein is the snake covered sinew-backed osage, the bride is the sinew/static recurve, osage as well.

Here's another pair I made...and osage with bullsnake skin, and a bamboo backed Ipe.   The osage took a couple critters....then blew apart one day as I drew it back for a practice draw in a treestand - after thousands of shots!   The bamboo backed ipe is still one of the best bows, performance-wise I've ever made, and as a backup bow has taken a couple real nice bucks and some does.  Sorry as many of these are not technically selfbows, but you work with what you have.

Here's a little 58" osage selfbow that I took a few critters with, then my son Kory used it one year and killed this great bull with it.  It is in the 70lb range at our 27and half inch draw...like most of the bows I make to hunt with.  Hard to see it in the pic....it's kinda plain flatbow with moosehorn tips.

Osage selfbow with leftover pieces of bullsnake from the busted one.  Nice blackie I took with it.

Vine maple selfbow I took a couple deer with this year.

My son Kory built his first ever selfbow (not counting the broken one) and had a great year with it.   70 lbish...horn tip overlays.

Here are a few that I have made......this thread is giving me the itch to start making them again....

Osage with a couple of cane arrows that were given as a raffle item at a Joan Leonard Memorial Bunny Hunt....

Here is my all time favorite, wish I still had it.... 60" osage with flipped tips, antler nocks, 47@29".......man, that was/is a good shooting bow....

62" osage, 50@29", knotty handled selfbow....
