Hey gang,

Awhile back I posted some pics of my carbon stumping arrows that I rigged with outrageously long aluminum footing. Well, they work so damn good that I have to share them again, this time with a how-to video! I've been having a blast with these. Hope you guys try it.

Here's the vid:

I think there's a thread or two on here where people share what size aluminum shafts fit with what size carbons. For example ICS 300's and 2117's are a perfect match.

Davie-thanks for the informative/instructional video! You made it look easy! I'm gonna have to try that sometime this winter!

That was a good video. Do you have a hard time with the external footing bumping over the arrow shelf durring the draw? It seems like it would be distracting. Just curious.
A peculiar virtue in wildlife ethics is that the hunter has no gallery to applaud or disaprove of his conduct.    Aldo Leupold

That much aluminum has to stiffen the spine considerably. Are you shooting 300's with 2117 footings and only 90 grain blunts up front? Those things have got to be really stiff. What are you using for a bow with them?

Just wondering because I use short aluminum footings on my stumpers but my bows are all 55# or less, usually 46 to 50#. I use ICS Bowhunter 500 shafts and they are plenty stiff with just a 1 1/2" aluminum footing.

Great questions...

Rogue Hammer- I don't even notice the footing on the draw. I just make sure the end of the aluminum is deburred before installation!

30coupe- They also have 100 gr inserts and are 31" total. That softens them up substantially. I also hypothesize that the weight of the footing itself acts like point-weight more or less, which may balance out the extra stiffness. If that's the case (if you get to count the footing weight as point-weight) then its as if I have ~320 grains up front! Whatever it is, they fly amazingly out of my 60# longbow (~65# @ 30").
