Just wondering how many of you hunt with old or vintage bows? If so what are they? Pics if you like.  :archer:

I still take out my Ben Pearson Cougar that my step dad gave to me. He bought it when he was a senior in high school. (late 60's) Shoots great, just stacks a little at my 30" draw.

Killed my last buck with a '74 Super Kodiak...Hunted part of this year with a '70 Super K...I love those old bows..

Looks like I should have looked a little closer before posting.
I didnt realive there was a similar thread in the collector/history forum.

Whip

No, not bad at all.  Love the old bows and any threads about them.  This fall has been spent with a Damon Howatt Super Diablo for me.  They are great shooting bows that will stack the arrows as eell as I am capable.
I wonder if some of the bows being built today will be considered treasures 40 or more years from now?

I love shooting the older bows and my go to bows are a 69' Pearson Mercury Marauder td and a 68' Wing Thunderbird. Both are great shooters and I love shooting them.
I would've taken better care of myself,if I'd known I was gonna live this long!

Nice Joe. Browning was never shy about using nice looking woods.

Most of this season I have gone afield with my '83 silver anniversary Black Widow. I have grown quite fond of it.

I recently stumbled on to a 1970 Herters recurve that had never even been braced, looking forward to hunting with it

Most of my bows are 20 years plus old, hunting this second season with a 1954 Bear Griz static recurve and some old Bear arrows that are over 40 years old.

monterey

Have not used it in a few years, but one of my favs is a Damon Howatt Cavalier static recurve.  Smooth and fast.  Don't know how old it is but is obviously pre-Martin.

Also have a beautiful Damon Howatt Monterey That was a companion for a long time but one of the kids caught the tip in a car door.  Made a funny sound and then split down the limb one day while shooting.  :(    That bow has very fragile limb tips so I guess it was bound to happen eventually.

Bald Spot

Right now my oldest bow is a 1956 Howatt Diablo.  Shoot it fairly regularly.  My go to recurve is a 62 Howatt Hunter and my main practice bow is a late 50's Root.  I shoot all of them without any regard for age, in other words, just like they were new bows.  Cold (around 0'), rain, hot summer days....

TOEJAMMER

My Jack Howard Gamemaster purchased from Jack in the mid-60's.
The oldest used on occasion is one I purchased about 1954 or 1955, a Gelco 800.
