I have been hunting Iowa off and on starting around the 20th of October. It has been alot of fun seeing so many deer. On Saturday the 19th of November I had one of those days that up until then have only dreamed about. I called in 9 different bucks in about an hour span. It was complete chaos! Bucks running all over the place but never engaging with each other. I didn't have any of the monsters that Iowa is famous for but it was a blast none the less. I had about a mid 130's 8 pointer that I had passed earlier on in the season and had decided on shooting him this morning. I called him in 3 different times but just could not get a good shot at him. I had watched him walk out the end of the woods and I reached behind and tinkled my rattling antlers together (note to self, don't take your eyes off a good buck) and this buck (or so I thought it was him) came running along the edge of the woods and from the direction the nice one had walked out. I had to shoot quick and did. As I walked up to him I had quite the suprise in finding it was a different buck! I have Mike Mitten's it can't be Bought poster framed in my office and I read it everyday and that was the first thing that came to my mind! When Mike signed it for me he wrote "Measure your success in proportion to your effort"! This brought a huge smile to my face and any regret I had quickly left. I was stuck on measuring my success by inches rather than effort. I couldn't be more happier, I had the best hunt of my life and a beautiful buck to remember it by and that my friends can't be bought! Thanks for following along and enjoy a few pics!

Regardless...That's still a great buck.  I love that quote.  As hard as we all work to hunt deer...any deer is a major success!

The fulfillment of your hunt is determined by the amount of effort you put into it  >>>---->

I am not sure Sam, I would guess 3 1/2 at the most but he maybe even a 2 1/2. I was messing around at work lookig through trail cam pics and actually found one of him. This was taken over a mile away at a different farm.
