my favorite is  'the deer jumped the string',  which is code for 'I screwed up'.

another common statement is,  'it was a good hit,  maybe a little far back'.  When I was gun hunter we'd call that gut shot.

My wife don't like mounts in the house...
 (heard it on a bushnell commercial, still makes me laugh).
If you hunt with your kids when they are young, you won't be hunting all over for them when they are teenagers.
