Columbia Gallatin Range Wool

Does anybody here have any of this stuff.  Looks like 225.00+tax and shipping will get you a pair of pants and a jacket.  I'm not really in the market but I was considering and just wondered how well folks liked it.

I own the pants, I like them. Not king of the mountain or sleeping Indian but then niethers the price.

Could you wear the pants by themselves, or do you need something under them?  How cold temps have you wore them?

The Columbia wool is good stuff; but I've found some of my best buys at local Army Surplus stores.  I've found x-tra heavy, mid-weight and light-weight wool pants at the surplus stores with prices ranging from $10 to $50.

I wear it just because it was a Christmas gift from the wife. I wouldn't spend my money on it. I have to really layer under it, but then again I'm only at about 5% body fat.

I wear merino long johns under my columbia wool pants and was comfortable in a tree stand all day with temps in teens and low twenties last winter.
I also wore my LaClair wool hunting shirt with the cape. I don't have alot of trouble with my lower body if I can keep warm from the waist up.

It's OK, but you do need a windproof layer either over, or under them. They're pretty warm, but the wind will cut straight through & make them pretty much useless

I have 3 sets of it. I haven't worn it bowhunting yet but have numerous times during deer and elk gun seasons. In Wisconsin, I only use it if going out and sitting, not on drives etc... due to all the stickers. In Colorado, I wear it all the time elk hunting. I have a pair of the pants but switched to bibs and like them much better. I wear layers underneath as the wool is not very thick and wind will cut through it. Sometimes the discount hunting clothing stores sell it at heavily reduced prices which is when I stocked up. I would buy in person or try sizes on before ordering online as they run a little large IMO.

I use it as an outer shell and like how quiet it is. I consider it a plus that it is not extremely thick so I can adjust by wearing more or less layers. If windy, I wear a windshear fleece top underneath.

I wear it when in MT. Hunt temps range from teens to 30s.
With off the shelf longjohns and a windproof fleece vest  I stayed warm.

I own the shirt and pants (along with a ton of other wool stuff). The Columbia stuff is a case of you get what you pay for, in my opinion. They're certainly decent quality, and thick. But they are recycled wool (and nylon), which typically means that much of the lanolin is no longer present in the wool, and the weave is not as dense as it could be. But will they keep you fairly warm? Sure.

What Uncle Rob said X 10 ! Any wind over 10MPH and you would think you are wearing screen door material. Like them fine for calm days.

They a real good if you layer and I always do. If it is going to be windy I throw on light weight rain gear and stay toasty into the teens. Personally I like them. I always wear gaiters to keep off the beggars lice!

I wore it on a Spring Black Bear hunt on the Kenai in Alaska...it was not real cold, but windy as we were staying on a 60' boat and doing some halibut fishing when not hunting... I was impressed with it.

I have had my shirt jackt nd bibs for over ten yrs and it is still going strong. I also have the pants and I like them a lot.  As others have said it is not wind proof but it is still warm.  I wear it when the temps drop and I am always impressed on how warm I stay.  It is always my outer layer.  For the money it works great and is quiet.

I have some but it is nothing like the new Silent Predator wool I just bought. That is the bomb.

I had some problems with columbia boots a few years ago. Both boots came apart about 2 weeks into season. Called and emailed a bunch of times. Got the run around from the store and columbia. I won't buy anything with that name on it.

It great for az were the temp is in the high teens but your good long john with it ! If real windy out a wind stop shrit and all is good .
I hunted 14 day in nov last year and high was 26 the whole weeks, I was fine just my 2 cent
