I usually keep mine strung and was wondering if this is a problem for RD longbows?

Mine only get unstrung for maintenance or travel-been strung for years.

Ragnarok Forge

I don't keep them strung.  They won't fit on my bow rack when strung.  I keep one strung quite a bit of the time so I can shoot in the yard.  3 years with no problems.

I never leave a bow strung. I don't reccomend it although a lot of folks do. I know they are glass but there is also laminated wood in the core of most of them,. I can honestly say I have seen about as many bows broken when not being used as when being shot.

God bless you, Steve

I don't it won't hurt it but they are easier to store unstrung.

I do during bow season. If I am not going to shoot it for a while, I will unstring it.

Igor

If I'm not going to shoot it regularly I will unstring them.

I keep mine unstrung unless they're being shot. The only exception is hunting season. I'll keep my hunting bow strung from early September through January and won't touch another bow during that time.

Never thought of leaving them strung... It is so quik to string them and that is what I've been tought to do, unstring it when you are not shooting it.

stujay

I leave the bow I use strung after asking my bowyers recommendation. He told me no problem, hang it from the string.

GrayRhino

I'd check with the bowyer.  I know that Black Widow recommends their longbows to be unstrung when not in use.

I don't leave ANY bow strung. I never found, or heard, a good enough reason to. It takes 3 seconds to brace or unbrace them. I brace em on my way into the woods.

I don't leave my truck idling when I ain't using it either   ;)

this topic comes up at least 2 or 3 times a year.  do a powwow search.

all modern laminated glass/carbon/wood/grass stick bows can be left strung indefinitely.  for years or decades.  won't ever take a set and won't lose holding weight.  i promise.

BUT, not stored/left in very high or very low air temps - anything from 50-80f with a reasonable human humidity level will be just fine.

I leave whatever bow I'm using at the time strung . That way I can grab it and fling a few arrows at anytime I want  :archer2:

If I'm shooting or going hunting a lot I'll leave them strung but if there's a couple of days in between I'll take them down.
