Ryan and I thought we would do a kinda hunt along thread      :)

This hunt has been in the works for a longtime and both of us have been looking forward to it texting and talking for several years.

I picked up Ryan at the airport at 1:00pm and they airline had lost his luggage      :knothead:      We headed home and I found some camo for Ryan to wear, We shot are bows a few times and off to the woods we went.

Are first sit was in one of my favorite spots.

Several deer had been working through this spot on the way to a pond and the fields farther down the valley.

On the way to the stand we walked by probably a dozen scrapes. I had put out a new trail cam on a very large scrape the day before and we had 5 bucks on the card.

I will let Ryan tell his part of the story and we will be adding plenty of picks as we go.

This is Ryan, on Tracy's handle.

First I can't say enough about Tracy and Marla's generosity. This is a dream to hunt whitetails in the midwest, And my good freind is making it happen. I hope to pay him back real soon.

So as tracy said, we got on the stand Tues afternoon after the debacle at the airport. Imagine if you will me, 6 ft 2 and Tracy not. Well it worked and it was great to have the back up.

Now this is about as different of hunting as I've ever done. I am used to putting lots of miles on my boots and seeing little game. We walked not miles and climbed into the treestand to wait. Tracy had told me the turkys came through at 6 and the deer later. One of the things I was looking forward to the most was that I could shoot a doe or buck, or a turkey. Man what a smorgasboard of things that I could shoot at  :)

So around 5:45 we start to hear turkey talk. I turn to ask Tracy if I should get ready and a hen flys down right in front of us. She putts around and heads back to the flock taking them away from us. Well 30 minnutes later we hear a deer blow. We waited for the rest of the afternoon with no more sightings. The wind was real squirrely and that was the cause for no sightings.

Curt I destroyed the evidence  :)

So this morning we headed up to a new stand that I absolutley love! It is in the woods and in a great location. The weather was pretty decent and wind was a little better. We climbed in and Tracy did a light rattling sequence, with no results.

About a half hour later, we heard a lot of noise from down the hill. I got my longbow ready just in case. Suddenly a small heard of 6 does and yearlings came running up the ridge below the stand. They were on a trail that would take them 18-20 yards from the stand. I readied for the shot, and Tracy tried to grunt them to slow down. The final doe slowed to a slow start and I let loose. Only to watch my  arrow fall short of it's intended target. Dang It!!!  :banghead:

I can't wait to hear the rest of the story. I too was used to western hunting. Now I can't get enough of whitetail hunting.

After a quick laugh. I knocked another arrow and proceeded to wait, but not for long.

Another doe came up the same trail, but a lot slower. She did the turn one way, then go the other, then meander another way. She took FOREVER to close the 30 yards or so to get into range.

She finally gets into range, but on edge. Tracy whispers "aim low" I draw and shoot. A loud bang comes from the shot and the arrow sails wide right. Strike 2!!

Now the true measure of a great guide (freind) was shown to me this day. Tracy gets down and retrieves my arrows for me! LOL!!

He then found a file and touched them up for me. Man you can't pay for this kind of service  :)

Well I will finish up tom after the morning hunt. There is still more to come from this morning though. Tracy might add some commentary on this morning though. See you tom  :)

Looks like You nailed the timing perfect Ryan. Saw 2 bucks with does today.

This cold front and rain should put them in overdrive for the next couple of days.
